From a recruiting standpoint there is no doubt that Artesia stud QB Landry Jones is the top prospect for the 2007 season.  Jones has several different offers from around the country.  We had a chance to talk with Landry and see how the process is going.

NMInsiders.com:  How is the recruiting process going?

Landry: It’s going good it’s kind of crazy at times, but overall its been a cool experience.

NMInsiders.com:  Any new offers to report of?

Landry:  No new offers but I’ve had a few other teams say they are going to offer after Feb. 7th, they are waiting until after the official signing day for seniors.

NMInsiders.com:  Who is your leader as of right now?

Landry:  I don't really have a leader right now I've got 4-5 that I like right now and I'm going to narrow that down to 1-2 in  the next few weeks.

NMInsiders.com:  When do you want to make your commitment?

Landry:  I'm going to make my decision in March.

NMInsiders.com:  Why are you interested in making your commitment so early?

Landry:  Because that is the nature of the beast right now, if you don't decide
early you might miss out on the school you want, that is if the school you want offers, and right now 5 of my top 6 have offered.

NMInsiders.com:  Any idea what you want to major in yet?

Landry:  I'm undecided, I have 2 sisters that went to Texas Tech one has graduated and one is a junior both of them told me to go in undecided and take my basics and see what I might like.

NMInsiders.com:  What are you looking for in a school from an academic standpoint?

Landry:  I'm looking for a school that will get me a top rate degree.

NMInsiders.com:  What are you looking for from a football standpoint?

Landry:  I'm looking for a school where I can have a real chance to start early by at least my sophomore year, I want a chance to compete for a national championship,  I want a chance to play for coaches that can prepare me for the next level.

NMInsiders.com:  Will you consider playing in state?

Landry:  Yes I will.

NMInsiders.com:  How does it make you feel to have big offers this early?

Landry:  It’s a real humbling experience, all these coaches that you see on TV every week they send letters and text me and stuff like that, I didn't really expect to get any offers until maybe this spring or summer, so to get the offers that I have got has been great.
