In an effort to get a comparison between talent from New Mexico and Arizona today we bring you two outside LB prospects in Artesia (NM) LB Dallas Bollema and Centennial (AZ) LB Reggie Umuolo. Both of these young men project as a weak side LB prospect and both have already committed to a school of their choice.
Centennial HS in Peoria AZ, is one of the true powerhouses in the Phoenix metro area. They have produced several D1 prospects over the years including Terry Longbons (Arizona), Jon Clanton (Nebraska) and Jerrell Barbour (Arizona State) last season. They are the two time defending state champs in the 5A2 division and appear ready to make a run at another title this season. LB Reggie Umuolo is one of the leaders of a very impressive defense. Reggie is 5’11 weighs 190 pounds and runs in the 4.7 range. Last season he was voted 2nd team all district after totaling 92 tackles and 4 sacks. He has given a verbal commitment to UNLV and has offers from Utah and San Diego State as well.

When it comes to powerhouse programs in New Mexico, one team that has to be in the conversation is Artesia. The Bulldogs are also two time defending champs and will be one of the favorites to win it all in 2008. Artesia has a long and storied tradition and have sent numerous players on to D1 schools. Last year QB Landry Jones (Oklahoma) was considered one of the top prospects at his position. LB Dallas Bollema is the next in a long line of Bulldogs that will play football in college. Bollema had a monster junior season leading the state in tackles with more than 170 total tackles. He is also a great athlete as evidence of him being the teams punt returner as well. Bollema has great size at 6’2 and 215 to go along with 4.7 speed. Dallas was offered a few weeks back by New Mexico and he quickly gave his verbal commitment to the Lobos, he doesn’t have any other offers at this time. Here is a link to his highlights
