Rio Rancho vs. Goddard
In my opinion this is the game of the week this week. 5A #4 Rio Rancho goes on the road against 4A #2 Goddard.
Rio Rancho has quietly been going about their business and winning ball games in a pretty convincing fashion. While the rest of the state has been paying attention to Las Cruces and Mayfield, Rio Rancho has just stayed the course and pound on people when they get a chance. RB Troy Harris has lived up the hype and been a great player offensively and we knew the defense was going to be good with Zach Drapeau and Carlo Lirosi. Rio Rancho is also going to be healthy this week after coming off a bye week and will be well rested for this matchup. Goddard has a chance to make a real statement in 4A football that this is their year. With Artesia’s loss last week to a very good 5A team in Manzano, the 4A race is wide open. If Goddard can come out and win and make a big statement type win, the rest of the state will have to take notice just how good they are this year. I think this game has all the ingredients to be a great game. I really like Rio Rancho this year, but I think this might be a special year for Goddard. I’ll go with the home team Goddard in a great game 24-20.
